Comerica Cityfest is a five-day outdoor food and culture rich entertainment street festival in Detroit’s historic New Center over each Fourth of July weekend. The event exemplifies city life, (what it is and what it could be), in one of Detroit’s fastest growing 24-hour districts.
A diverse and family friendly crowd looks forward each year to our free national and local talent on four stages, over 40 Michigan restaurants selling “tastes” of their specialties, free stage shows, activities for children, and a marketplace of unique Detroit products and memorabilia. Comerica Cityfest is free and open to the public.
The festival is supported by many of Detroit’s top radio and television stations, as well as the local print media. Over 500,000 people attend our festival each year from throughout southeastern Michigan and Ontario.
Comerica Cityfest is produced by New Center Council, Inc. (NCC) a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit business organization dedicated to the development and management of New Center as a vibrant, diverse and economically healthy district. New Center is the northern anchor of Detroit’s Greater Downtown.
Since 1993, the festival has generated over $1,000,000 in proceeds that support NCC initiatives such as litter control, landscaping, holiday lighting, graffiti removal, economic development, planning, and advocacy. Visit www.newcenter.com for more.
In addition, NCC has used Comerica Cityfest proceeds to help produce an award-winning summer youth program at the local Fairbanks Elementary School, located just north of the festival site. To date, NCC has donated in excess of $400,000 to Fairbanks for equipment and programs, and to produce the summer youth program.
Comerica Cityfest succeeds on many levels. It supports a vital and growing downtown Detroit district, offers a great “City” experience for over 500,000 attendees, and provides a strong marketing opportunity for its sponsors and partners. Comerica Cityfest has grown each year in size and relevance because it succeeds on many levels.
