Comerica CityFest, formerly known as Comerica TasteFest, is a five-day outdoor food and entertainment free festival held during the Fourth of July weekend in Detroit's historic New Center.  Comerica CityFest is an award winning, “taste-making,” Detroit festival with an incredible mix of local restaurants selling “tastes” of their specialties, free international, regional and local musical acts on four stages, a unique marketplace selling Detroit products and memorabilia, artists, children’s attractions and extreme sports.

Comerica CityFest is free to the public and is supported by many of Detroit's top radio and television stations, as well as local print media.  Over 500,000 people attend the event each year.

Past performers have included Common, Jet, Wilco, Cake, The New Pornographers, Cat Power, Ray Davies, The Brothers Johnson, Spyro Gyra, The Brazilian Girls, Buddy Guy, Mavis Staples, Kings of Leon, Eric Burden and the Animals, The All American Rejects, Damone, Rusted Root, Los Lobos, Billy Preston, Tweet, Amadou and Mariam, Amp Fiddler, and Kevin Mahogany to name just a few.

Since 1993, the festival has generated $1,000,000 in profit that supports NCC initiatives in the areas of public space maintenance, economic development and planning, and youth and charitable programs.

In addition, NCC has used Comerica TasteFest proceeds to help produce an award-winning summer youth program at the local Fairbanks Elementary School.  To date, NCC has donated in excess of $350,000 to the Fairbanks Elementary School for equipment and programs, and to produce the summer youth program.

This five day celebration of people, music, food and shopping is produced by New Center Council, whose mission is to foster and create a rich urban experience in their district year around.  This festival has generated over $1,000,000 in profit that supports NCC initiatives in the areas of public space maintenance, economic development and planning, and youth and charitable programs.

The Comerica CityFest is a recipe for success on many levels.  It supports a vital Detroit community, offers a great "City" experience for over 500,000 attendees, provides artists a great opportunity for exposure and provides a strong marketing vehicle for its sponsors and partners.
