NCC Focuses On Four Key Action Areas:

Clean
& Safe
NCC maintains the public spaces in the New Center through litter removal,
an annual flower and landscaping program, holiday lighting, banners, and
tree maintenance. The NCC works very closely with the Detroit Police
Department's Central District. Security staffs of area businesses
and institutions to keep New Center
one of the safest neighborhoods in Detroit.

Economic Development & Planning
NCC works closely with the City of Detroit and other agencies to
plan, promote and implement the highest quality development in New Center.
Economic development initiatives spurred by the 1997 New Center Economic
Development Plan have led to $257 million of completed and pending
investment in New Center since 1997.

Comerica
CityFest (formerly Comerica TasteFest), created by NCC in 1989 to draw attention to the growing
vitality of New Center, has become one of the region’s premier
attractions. The five-day festival celebrating food, music and the
urban scene attracts 500,000 people annually in the days surrounding the
Fourth of July. |

Youth Enrichment
Last but not
least, the New Center Summer Youth Program – carried out in
collaboration with
DPS'
Fairbanks Elementary School -- provides positive
educational, cultural and recreational experiences to 140 disadvantaged
children each summer. |
